The two surviving members of Mad Season, Mike McCready and Barrett Martin, will reunite for a one-off performance in Seattle early next year. According to The Seattle Times, the pair will team up with Soundgarden’s Chris Cornell and Guns N’ Roses’ Duff McKagan, along with the Seattle Symphony Orchestra, in performing orchestral and solo arrangements of original Mad Season works.

McCready and Martin previously reunited on stage for a benefit concert in 2012, but this marks the first official performance billed under the Mad Season banner since 1995. The iconic grunge outfit broke up the following the death of bassist John Baker Saunders in 1999. Frontman Layne Staley died three years later in 2002.

In recent years, McCready and Martin have celebrated Mad Season’s legacy with a series of archival releases, including a deluxe reissue of the band’s lone 1995 album Above, as well as a concert film. Mark Lanegan was also recruited to sing on several unreleased songs from Mad Season’s unfinished second album.

The reunion concert will take place on January 30th as part of Seattle Symphony’s fourth annual Sonic Evolution. McCready has also written an original composition that will be performed at the concert.
