“The album is mixed and ready for mastering. The process of finishing the tracks has been inspiring and bittersweet at the same time – but I’m excited for our fans to hear it.”

Matt Cameron tells Guitar World about his life as a guitarist inside Soundgarden, from nervously bringing his instrumental “He Didn’t” to Chris Cornell, Kim Thayil and Hiro Yamamoto after joining in 1986, to writing the riffs behind songs like “Room a Thousand Years Wide,” “Mailman” and “Limo Wreck.” He credits Neil Young with getting him to pick up the guitar at 15, and says Mike McCready, whom Cornell called the band’s honorary fifth member, showed him Ace Frehley riffs he still uses.

Cameron also says Soundgarden’s final album with Cornell is mixed and ready for mastering. He’s up for more shows, but admits the three surviving members aren’t on the same page about how replacing key members would work.
